Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Where and when is the Prairie Gran Fondo?

PGF starts and finsihes at the German Cultural Club at 160 Cartwright Ave., Saskatoon.

Pre-Ride address: 7:00AM

Ride commences: 7:30AM.

2. What type of bike do I need for the Gran Fondo?

If you are planning to ride the Gran or Gran +  routes it is highly reccomended that you have a road bike, cyclocross or hybrid bike outfitted with "skinny" tires. If you are choosing to ride the Piccolo Fondo you could probably ride a mountain bike as the distance is not too great. BMX style bikes are not reccomended.

3. What is included in my registration fee?

Your registration fee includes a great ride on a well marked course, police escort out of Saskatoon from German club out onto Valley Road, great nutrition/ rest stops along the course, partial lane closure on your return into Saskatoon, a German themed snack and refreshment upon completion of the ride, a "swag bag" and not to mention the camaraderie of fellow cyclists celebrating with you a great accomplishment.

4. Why is the Piccolo & Medio Fondo registration fee the same price as Gran+ &* Gran Fondo, yet the Piccolo & Medio route is much shorter?

Ahhh ... glad you asked! The costs associated with this event are the same regardless of distance. However, for Piccolo and Medio riders, there is something special ... just for you! Your return ride has you stopping at the Saskatoon Berry Barn for a Saskatoon Berry treat!

5. Can I get a refund?

6. Where does any excess money go that is raised from the Prairie Gran Fondo event?

PGF is a not-for-profit event and any proceeds go towards Youth Cycling Programming.

7. Are there cut off times?

Yes! The east bound lane closure of Circle Drive (across the new Circle Drive South bridge) from Valley Road to the Lorne Ave Exit will only be closed off from 10AM  to 3PM. Therefore any riders who have not made it back to the Valley Road exit onto Circle drive by 3PM will be pulled from the course by the sweep vehicle.

8. Why is there an option to register with a Team, is there any advantage?

For this year's edition of PGF we have not set out any fundraising goals, team prizes etc. however if a corporate group, a cycling club group or social group wanted to register as a "team" we thought it might be a good option to have for future considerations. Naturally registering as part of a team is not required and individual registration are most definately welcomed.

9. Can I register the morning of the event?

No. Your very best option for registering is online before the July 3rd midnight deadline. To register online click here

10. I see mention of Velopalooza on your website... what is that?

Velopalooza is a Superweek of cycling where almost every day of the week from July 4th through July 9th cylcing events are hosted around the city of Saskatoon. PGF is held in conjunction with Velopalooza as a celebration and promotion of the sport of cycling.
