Cyclocross

BCW has requested we post information regarding the Cyclocross season (this is not a horizon 100 series:

Cyclocross Kick-off BBQ – 6PM August 27th, South Ball Diamond (Forestry Farm)
Come one, come all! This is “the” party to attend this year. Free food,
great friends and a kick-off to cyclocross. If you have any SCA or non-SCA
friends who might be interested in cross, please bring them to this event.
We will be running a clinic for beginners (mountain bike, cross bike and
hybrids welcome). We will also have a circuit set up for those who want to
start honing their skills for the upcoming season.

Please visit http://doodle.com/f9wmt75kd7rm27cc to sign-up to let me know
you are attending (and how many family members or other biking friends you
are bringing), so that I can plan our food. More details (such as location
and time) are available on the sign-up website. If your plans change, you
can modify your invitation.

BCW Thursday Night Cyclocross Practices
Lakewood Park (parking lot east of the Lakewood Civic Centre) 6PM until dark
Thursday evenings starting August 30th until mid-October
This weekly training session is perfect for any age and ability. Parents,
if your kids are 7 or older, and they like to bike, please feel free to
bring them with you. If you are leaving your older kids, please check with
me each time so that you know when we are finishing (nothing worse than
standing in the dark waiting for a parent).

The format: We will start each session by breaking into ability level
groups and will work on skills. We then move into a little intensity to
warm up the legs and we finish with a fun-race (15 minutes or less). Race
rules include the “do whatever is necessary” rule, so you can’t lose on
this fun race. We offer MTB and Cross categories for both guys and gals.
Tell your buddies and friends. This is the perfect way for them to start
biking with a group. No one gets left behind (we’re on a loop) and after
about 5 minutes no one can tell which group you are in.
We finish the season off with a small party where we eat delicious food
and draw for great prizes!
